CSAP Fall PD Workshop, October 26th

Location: Vancouver Convention Centre (West Building Room 220-222) - 1055 Canada Place, Vancouver
Time : 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The fall PD workshop will be held Oct 26th this year.   Highlights  of the event will include a reporting out form the TG6 working groups on the following issues:
  • Iron and Manganese in relation to organic contamination, data gathering, and notification issues.
  • Examination of Exemption Criteria – Land Use Considerations in TG6 and Aquifer Definition / the economics of TG6 to low value properties and Brownfield remediation.
  • Examine DW as a factor in soil assessment/Proposed compliance strategy on DW sites.

The Ministry plans to release a number of new documents at the Workshop as well.

Note: The Working group established to examine criteria for exemptions from DW standards in Technical Guidance No. 6 (Water Use Determination) invite CSAP members to submit comments and suggestions regarding possible new exemption criteria, or changes to existing exemption criteria, to be considered by the group.  These should be sent to Aurora Marin [amarin@csapsociety.bc.ca] no later than September 16, 2011.  Please make your contributions as brief and concise as possible

ACPBC Event

The Association of the Chemical Profession of BC is pleased to invite you to a workshop on Chemistry and Society in the International Year of Chemistry.  This  event is scheduled in downtown Vancouver on the afternoon of Thursday, September 1st, before the ACPBC Annual General Meeting.  The workshop will feature internationally recognized speaker Dr. Peter Mahaffy who led the IUPAC team that obtained UN designation for the International Year of Chemistry.  Presentation abstracts and biographies of our invited speakers are available at www.pchembc.ca

SABCS Events

Registration is now open for the SABCS Short Course on Monitored Natural Attenuation and the First Annual Conference on Contaminated Sites to take place September 28 and 29, 2011

The Science Advisory Board for Contaminated Sites in BC is pleased to present a short course on Monitored Natural Attenuation and the First Annual Conference on Contaminated Sites. The short course is scheduled for September 28, 2011 and the First Annual Conference is scheduled for September 29, 2011.

Registration Now Open for SABCS First Annual Conference on Contaminated Sites and Short Course on  Monitoring Natural Attenuation

Both events will take place at SFU Harbour Centre, located at 515 Hastings Street West in Vancouver, BC. A discount on short course registration fees will be offered to those also registering to attend the conference.

Performance Assessment Lessons Learned
The PA Committee has posted a list of "PA Lessons Learned" inside the Online Submissions Manager. To view the documents log in at: www.CSAPsubmissions.com

CSAP Membership PD Hours
All Members are required to accumulate 150 Professional Development (PD) hours during each 3 year renewal period.

PD hours can be logged in directly through the Online Submissions Manager, under "My Account" tab at: www.CSAPsubmissions.com

Alternatively, you may still log your hours manually and submit a paper copy to the CSAP office. The continuing Professional Development Report template can be found at: AP Professional Development

Volunteer Opportunity Technical Review Panel
CSAP is very active in the review of draft Ministry documents, in order to meet this challenge the society would like to build a strong panel of Approved Professional Technical Reviewers. Going forward, Technical Panel members may also be asked to review CSAP documents in order to ensure that the information contained in the documents is timely and comprehensive.
